FAA Part 107 exam format and passing score

The initial FAA Part 107 knowledge test is called Unmanned Aircraft General – Small, or UAG. It is a computer-based, multiple-choice exam taken at an approved testing centre.

How many questions are on the Part 107 test?

The current PSI applicant bulletin specifies 60 scored questions and five unscored validation questions, making 65 questions in total. The five validation items do not affect the result.

What score do you need to pass?

The passing score is 70%. On 60 scored questions, that means 42 correct answers. The passing score is different from the national pass rate: one is the required result; the other describes how many test attempts passed in a particular year.

How long is the exam?

The time allowance is 120 minutes, including the validation questions. Budget time for figures and careful reading as well as short knowledge questions. If you finish a first pass early, use the remaining time to revisit answers you were unsure about.

During preparation, notice which tasks slow you down. Taking longer to read a chart may show that you need more practice with its symbols or height references. Repeating a memorised paper can hide that problem.

How to practise the format

Start with the free 20-question practice test to see the question-and-feedback workflow. When you have studied across the topics, use a timed mock without looking up answers. Review both mistakes and correct guesses after submitting.

Airspace School includes three mock exams, each with 60 scored questions and five unscored questions. The course records your results so you can decide which subject to revisit. A mock result is preparation feedback, not an official FAA result.
