FAA Part 107 preparation
FAA Part 107 exam breakdown by topic
The Part 107 exam does not give every subject the same weighting. The current UAG applicant bulletin sets out five content areas. Use the breakdown to organise revision while still studying every area.

Current UAG topic weighting
| Content area | Weighting |
|---|---|
| Regulations | 48% |
| Airspace classification and operating requirements | 20% |
| Weather | 5% |
| Loading and performance | 2% |
| Operations | 25% |
Why older percentage tables differ
The FAA announced that the revised blueprint would take effect on 29 September 2025. Its advisory said that the old percentage table in the Remote Pilot Airman Certification Standards would become obsolete, while the topics and subject matter remained unchanged. The advisory directs applicants to the UAG Applicant Information Bulletin for the updated blueprint.
How to use the percentages
Give substantial revision time to regulations and operations, then adjust your plan using your own mistakes. A topic you already understand may need less work than a smaller area where every question is unfamiliar. A low weighting is not a reason to skip a subject.
A percentage is a blueprint allocation, not an exact question count promised for your appointment. For example, a percentage of 60 can produce a fraction. Avoid treating rounded counts on a preparation site as a guarantee of what your test will contain.
Turn a topic list into a study plan
For each area, ask whether you can recall the main ideas, explain them in ordinary language and apply them to a different question. Airspace School separates guided lessons, topic practice and timed mocks, so you can choose the activity that addresses the gap.
