FAA Part 107 preparation

Retaking the FAA Part 107 exam after a failure

The FAA says you may retake the aeronautical knowledge test after 14 days. Use the interval to understand the gaps shown by your result, rather than immediately repeating the same practice paper.

Use your knowledge test report

The UAG report includes Airman Certification Standards codes. Match those codes to the corresponding areas in the standards to identify what needs more work. Keep the report and read the current testing-centre instructions for retest documentation.

Change the preparation that did not work

Review how you reached each practice answer. If you knew a definition but could not interpret a chart, spend time with chart examples. If you misread a condition, practise explaining what the question is asking before looking at the choices.

Use fresh questions after revisiting the lesson. Correctly repeating an answer you remember does not show whether you can apply the knowledge to a different example.

Arrange the next appointment

Check the testing provider’s retake availability, fee and documentation requirements. The waiting period does not reserve an appointment or pay for another test. Airspace School’s course fee and your official testing fees are separate.

Check readiness with a different mock

Try a timed mock after addressing the gaps. Review the topic results and any answers you guessed. Aim to understand the reasoning across the subjects; no preparation score can promise a pass.
