STS mock exams: timing, marking and review

Use full STS mock papers to practise managing a timed attempt and to locate gaps across the eight theoretical subjects.

The Airspace School mock format

The course has three STS mock forms. Each uses 40 questions, a 60-minute time limit and a 75% passing threshold. On these equally weighted papers, 30 correct answers reach the threshold. The mock timer is a course setting, not a statement that every national STS examination lasts 60 minutes.

Allow for the A2-holder examination route

The European rules provide a reduced examination requirement of at least 30 questions across five subjects for holders of an A2 certificate. Confirm the route and duration with your examining body. Airspace School’s mocks practise the full 40-question format and do not claim to reproduce every national arrangement.

Review the decisions behind the score

After submission, separate mistakes about the scenario from mistakes about a crew role, procedure or aircraft requirement. Review guessed correct answers too. Return to the relevant lesson before trying another form. A high score on a repeated paper can reflect remembered wording rather than transferable understanding.

Full mocks require paid access. Try the public practice sample to see explanations before choosing a plan.
