EASA STS preparation
STS exam syllabus and topic checklist
Plan STS revision across the eight subjects in the full theory examination, with a separate check for the reduced A2-holder route.

The five core areas in both examination routes
- Aviation regulations: the applicable categories, scenario conditions and responsibilities.
- Human performance: the pilot’s capabilities, limitations and fitness.
- Operational procedures: planning, normal procedures, contingencies and emergencies.
- Ground risk: the controlled area, operational space and measures protecting people.
- UAS general knowledge: aircraft systems, functions and limitations.
The other subjects in the full examination
The full eight-subject paper also includes meteorology, UAS flight performance and technical and operational mitigations for air risk. Connect weather to aircraft limits and connect air-risk measures to observation, detection and the response to other aircraft.
Do not invent subject percentages
Attachment A requires questions to be distributed appropriately across the specified subjects. It does not supply a Europe-wide percentage weighting for each. If an examining body publishes a blueprint for its paper, use that current document and label it as that body’s arrangement.
A2 holders have a reduced examination requirement across the first five subjects. Read the format guide and confirm the route when booking.
