What A2 is for
A2 is a subcategory of the open category. It allows operations with a compliant class C2 drone near uninvolved people, subject to the required separation and all other open-category conditions. The certificate is evidence of pilot competence. It is not permission to fly at any location or to ignore geographical zones.
Complete the steps in order
- Complete the A1/A3 online training and pass its theoretical examination.
- Complete practical self-training under the required A3 operating conditions.
- Declare that self-training and pass the additional A2 theory examination with the authority or a body it designates.
You must also be familiar with the manufacturer’s instructions. UAS.OPEN.030 sets the sequence; studying on this site does not replace it.
Choose an examining body
Start with the national authority’s official website. Confirm its current language, identity checks, accepted prior certificates, fee and delivery method. Use the booking checklist before paying. If you are considering an exam abroad, check applicant eligibility and recognition with the examining body.
