EASA A2 preparation
After passing A2: certificate, validity and next steps
Check the official certificate, keep track of its validity and prepare for the location and aircraft you intend to use.

Check the certificate and its issue process
Follow your examining body’s instructions for receiving the A2 certificate of remote pilot competency. Check the personal details and validity dates and retain the required evidence. A course completion record is not the same document as the authority-issued qualification.
Plan revalidation before expiry
UAS.OPEN.070 gives the A2 certificate a five-year validity period. Within that period, revalidation can use the required demonstration of competence or refresher training provided by the authority or an entity it designates. After expiry, the competence-demonstration route applies. Confirm the procedure with your authority in good time.
Prepare each operation separately
Check operator registration where required, the C2 aircraft and its instructions, active and updated direct remote identification and geo-awareness, and the applicable geographical zones. Keep the aircraft within the relevant open-category conditions. Recognition of a qualification across EASA states does not remove local operating restrictions.
If you need operations under a standard scenario, read how STS differs from A2 before assuming the A2 certificate is sufficient.
